The story follows Ameenah, a very flawed Muslim woman who is ashamed of everything that makes up her low-level background. With a zeal to be a woman of higher status and live a life of prestige, she struggles to paint a picture of what’s not by making friends with the wealthy and trying hard to blend in with them.

After she gets married to Suleiman and has two children for him, Aisha and Daud, she gets very comfortable in her world, relaxing that she has achieved all that she longed for and by her own effort and struggles alone.

The trials begin with Suleiman’s younger sister, Maimuna, who has lived with them for five years and is a threat to Ameenah’s freedom in her husband’s house and her will too. She is willing to do anything to get rid of her and revenge isn’t a negative idea to the mother of two.

What Ameenah doesn’t know is that her attitude towards her faith and lifestyle will be the triggers for her crumbling when the trials stretch out and tear her mental health into shreds.

~Hafsah bint Nurein, Author of To Err is Human (Portugal)

An inspiring journey from the brink of self-destruction to self-healing.”

~Amatullah Keeling, Elementary Teacher (UK)

“I cried a couple of tears reading this. May Allah grant us all beautiful ends, no matter what our beginnings are.”

~AYEINA (UAE)

“The book was unputdownable till I finished this 294 – paged novel, but I tell you that the few times I took my face off the pages, it was to wipe my tears and I totally mean this. It is the story of a young woman who did not understand her ‘why’; hence she ended up losing everything she was bestowed with.

The style of writing has a very consuming and riveting feel that makes you just put yourself into the character in the book because it is our absolute reality as humans!”

~Salmah Adetutu Lawal, Author, Broadcaster, Certified NLP Coach (Michigan)

“SubhanaLlah, an absolute tear-jerker! A book with a powerful story of redemption, finding one’s faith, undergoing trials with tawakkul and having a good ending.”

~Nusaybah AbdulFattah, Self Mastery Coach (Nigeria)

“Taken For Granted will put you on a see-saw of emotions which is what this worldly life does to us. I definitely did not see the end coming and this book is such a reminder to every person of faith that priorities should be set aright because every moment, every second counts; we should never make the mistake of thinking we have time, we don’t. We fade with every passing day.”

~Aisha Oredola (Nigeria)
